We all have found ourselves at one time or another fighting off sleepiness as we drive.  After doing some research in this area with Dr. Alistair MacLean, I understand now that sleepiness behind the wheel is a crash hazard.  The effects of sleep loss on driving are much the same as alcohol.  Too many have lost their lives already.   Here’s my article in the Globe and Mail.

Do you remember the crash in BC that killed 2 paramedics when their ambulance went over a steep embankment into a lake? Here is the story at the time.  That crash was caused by sleepiness.
